The course combines 11 months of in-depth research study in a supportive research environment with more specialised discussion-based teaching and professional skills training. It aims to equip students with the skills needed for a wide range of careers, including advanced research in industry, or to apply to competitive related doctoral programmes.

The MPhil in Biological Sciences has 6 parallel pathways, with students applying and admitted to one, to study and research in the topic of their choice:
